Celebrate with a Giveaway!

We reached a new milestone this last weekend- we now have more than 500 subscribers!  To celebrate, we decided to add a new feature to our website and start offering giveaways of some of our favorite music products.  We will be offering something every Monday for a month, and if the giveaways are successful, we will continue to offer giveaways indefinitely.  Enter to win below, then read about why I chose this prize.  Boomwhackers did not sponsor this giveaway, I will be purchasing and mailing the Boomwhackers to the winner myself.

Boomwhacker fun for everyone!

Boomwhackers are large, plastic tubes that have been tuned to specific pitches.  They are color-coded and are labeled both with letter names and solfege.  Red is "C" and "Do", Orange is "D" and "Re", and so on.

I really love Boomwhackers because they are so inviting for children.  They love to sword fight with the boomwhackers, and given a rhythm to practice with their sword play, the activity can be academically productive AND help them get their wiggles out.  Win-win!

We also like to play music together.  While great for classroom use, a small group of as few as 3 people can successfully play simple nursery rhymes such as "Twinkle, Twinkle".  Larger groups can play even more complex songs as more pitches are added to the spectrum and more than one player has the same boomwhacker.

The colors used are very similar to the colors we use on this website.  (Instead of blue for "So", they have a dark teal).  We have plenty of color-coded printouts that you can use with boomwhackers making the two a perfect match!

Boomwhackers are an engaging, hands on, gross motor activity great for wiggling students and otherwise bored children.  Put more fun in your music time and try some today!

  1. I use these to reinforce solfege. Wish they were all labeled with solfege. I sets and some of them are and some of them aren’t.

  2. I love Boomwhackers!! If our school had the funding for them, I would have at least four sets of them for the elementary kiddos to use for solffege and an alternate to glockenspiels in our classroom. I have no Orff instruments otherwise…

  3. Boom whackers could be a great way to reinforce musical concepts. The possibilities are endless! 🙂 You can teach solfege, you could teach risen to a new song, it’s a fun way of getting them into the body, and introduce harmonies.:)

  4. I love boomwhackers! I travel room to room at two schools and they are easy to tote along. You can work on rhythms, pitch, solfedge and harmony.

  5. I love to teach with boomwhackers! I’m an elementary music teacher who teaches in 3 schools. I teach 32 classes a week. A set of boomwhackers would be great to travel to schools. The students love them!

  6. Boomwhackers are such a fun way to reinforce solfa, treble clef reading, and simple chord building and progression. Simple and fairly inexpensive tool that’s great for every music classroom!

  7. Just saw your post and pictures of kids playing boomwhackers — they had so much fun! Overall it is an amazing tool for teaching rhythm while having loads of fun and movement. Great choice for young kids especially!

  8. Boomwhackers are so much fun! It’s easy to get kids excited about making music when they get to use colorful tubes as instruments. Great intro to how to read marching band bass drum parts…
