I wanted to share this talk because it highlights one of the most important aspects of education- the art of listening.  As more and more research has revealed the incredible learning that happens before we are even born, we recognize that listening is their primary means of learning.  When they enter the world, they listen with their eyes as much as their ears, but they still primarily learn through observation.  If only we were able to learn as fast as these tiny members of society!  Music education preserves and magnifies our listening skills, and our brains love it!  Take his challenge and listen carefully!  It's a game, so have fun too.
What role do we give music in education?  How can we improve?

About the author

Tamsyn

My name is Tamsyn and I love music. I got my bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from USU. I spent many years teaching private piano lessons until I had children of my own. I have attended several children workshops on how to teach children music. I really like the Kodaly method, but have adapted a lot of different techniques for my own children.
